Latest Ofsted Report

Back
5 May 2025

We are delighted to announce that following our recent inspection, we were graded Outstanding in all areas.

As of September 2024, Ofsted no longer assigns a single-word overall effectiveness grade (e.g., "Outstanding", "Good", "Requires Improvement", "Inadequate") during graded inspections.

Instead, schools receive separate judgments in four key areas, following our inspection we received:

  • Quality of Education - Outstanding

  • Behaviour and Attitudes - Outstanding

  • Personal Development - Outstanding

  • Leadership and Management – Outstanding

The full report has been uploaded to our About Us/Ofsted page, some of the highlights include the following:

"Pupils flourish at Widcombe Junior School."
"Pupils brim with delight when they arrive at school, as they are eager to learn."

"The motto for pupils to ‘be the best you can be’ is fostered through the school’s exceptionally well-designed curriculum and wider offer."
"Pupils’ enthusiasm for learning is palpable. Their behaviour is exemplary."

"Pupils are given every chance to shine."
"The provision for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is exemplary."
"They embody the school’s aspirations for them to be confident and resilient individuals, well-prepared for life beyond school."

It goes without saying that we are absolutely thrilled with the outcome of the report and are really proud to be able to share this with the wider school community. It was a particularly challenging few days but so worth it when the school was recognised as the brilliant place that we all know and love.
