Widcombe Junior and Infant Schools Christmas fundraising for Dorothy House Hospice will go down in history! Thanks to the amazing support the children received from their families and friends, their fundraising total for December is now a staggering £9,213.54!
The children kick-started the festive season on 1st December with a sponsored Reindeer Run at Bath Recreation Ground, where the children completed as many laps (led by a canine elf!) of a 200m track as possible in 30 minutes. To make the event extra special, every child wore a pair of reindeer antlers provided by Dorothy House - well done little reindeers!
The schools followed this with a visit from Santa and his jolly elves for a festive story telling in a specially created twinkly grotto. This lovely event was supported by John Lewis, Cribbs Causeway who kindly provided gift wrapped copies of the Christmasaurus books by Tom Fletcher as grotto gifts, thank you.
To mark this incredible milestone, the schools held a special assembly to celebrate the children’s achievement and present a giant, much appreciated, cheque to Dan Barley of Dorothy House.
Dorothy House hospice provides vital care and support for people with life-limiting illnesses and their families, and Widcombe Schools' are proud to contribute to their incredible work. This is a charity is very close to the hearts of Widcombe staff and families who have benefited greatly from their compassionate care when they needed it most and will be the schools' charity of choice again for 2026
