Pupil Premium & Additional InterventionsBack
At Widcombe CofE Junior School, we are committed to providing an education full of opportunities. We ensure all pupils, including the ‘disadvantaged’, are prepared for their future within an inclusive Christian ethos that encourages them to be the best they can be. We aim to inspire and develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full and strong consideration is given to the allocation of resources to support this vision.
Pupil Premium is allocated to pupils who are one of the following:
- Looked After Children;
- Pupils who are currently eligible for Free School Meals (FSM);
- Pupils who are within a service family;
- Those pupils who have received Free School Meals in the last six years (Ever 6 children).
The school will use the grant to support these groups, which comprise pupils with a range of different abilities, to diminish any difference between them and their peers. We also recognise that not all pupils eligible for pupil premium funding will have lower attainment than their peers. In such cases, the grant will be used to help improve pupils’ progress and attainment so that they can reach their full potential.
The progress of disadvantaged pupils and allocation of the pupil premium funding is a specific focus on the School Development Plan. Further information on how our Pupil Premium Grant is spent can be found on our Pupil Premium Strategy document, or by contacting our Pupil Premium Manager – Jess Steel.
