Curriculum Overview
Curriculum Statement of Intent
Our aim is to provide all our children with a highly engaging, exciting and inspirational curriculum that equips them with the knowledge, skills and attributes to thrive in the modern world.
The Widcombe cohort of pupils have been ‘the heart and mind’ when constructing our School Curriculum, of which the National Curriculum feeds into.
We look for ways to motivate and challenge children, to help develop their skills as global citizens and active learners. Children are encouraged to reflect and develop their sense of self, so when they leave Widcombe Church of England Junior School they have a strong sense of personal identity, self-belief and are able to make a positive contribution to society.
We aim to deliver consistently excellent teaching throughout cross-curricular learning. This is achieved through a deep, broad and balanced curriculum, incorporating key skills, knowledge based learning and enquiry led opportunities all relevant to the current climate.
We pride ourselves in providing a curriculum which holds true the values of our School Vision and motto - ‘Be the Best You Can Be!’
The timetable below outlines the themes covered within each year group, which implements our curriculum intention.
